PLYWOOD - THE ENGINEERED WOOD

Plywood is manufactured from joining sheets of wood veneer. These thin layers or plies are glued together at alternating right angles to create a cross-grain pattern. This manufacturing process imparts strength and stability to plywood making it resistant to shrinkage and expansion caused by moisture. Plywood has been rightly called engineered wood because the cross lamination technique makes it extremely useful for various outdoor purposes that need strength and moisture resistance.

THE MIRACLE PRODUCT

The use of plywood has the following amazing advantages

Stability: plywood combines the benefits of its parent wood and the enhanced properties of being a laminated product.
Impact resistance: laminated structure of the plywood distribute the load over a large area and hence reduce the tensile stress. As a result, plywood has the ability to accommodate occasional short term overload.

Panel shear: The cross-laminated structure gives plywood the panel share nearly double that of the Solid Timber.
Chemical resistance: Plywood can be used as a cost-effective and durable material when preservative-treated and does not corrode. Hence this can be used in chemical industries also.

High strength to weight ratio: Plywood is a very budget-friendly material to use in applications such as flooring, shear walls etc because of its high strength and stiffness to weight ratio

Climate Resistance: The cross-laminated structure of plywood makes it relatively stable even under constantly changing temperature and moisture. Hence, plywood is an excellent choice for flooring and formwork construction.
